Bellator 62 Betting Preview

Bellator 62 odds focus on the Lightweight Tournament Friday as MMA betting action resumes during a rare lull in UFC action.

Quarterfinal lightweight battles plus the long-awaited heavyweight matchup between Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos goes from the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, Texas.

In Season 4’s Lightweight tournament Patricky Freire made it into the finals after a couple of highlight reel KOs, only to lose a unanimous decision to Michael Chandler.

Since then, he knocked out Kurt Pellegrino and will be looking to go all the way in this year’s tournament.

Oddsmakers at TopBet currently have Freire as a -350 favorite to beat Lloyd Woodard. Woodard suffered his first loss in the cage against Michael Chandler last April and has been out of action since then.

He’s currently a +260 underdog.

Ricardo Tironi’s only professional loss came at the hands of current UFC Lightweight champ Benson Henderson nearly four years ago. Since then he’s gone 11-0 and will be looking to make a name for himself in this year’s Bellator Lightweight tournament.

But Bellator 62 oddsmakers don’t see him as a big threat to beat former Welterweight Bellator tournament finalist Rick Hawn. Hawn is currently the -195 favorite, but that price is down from an initial -225.

The upset payout on Tironi is currently +160 at TopBet and could shrink even more by fight time.

Brent Weedman will be coming off two straight losses as the heavy -275 favorite at 5DIMES over J.J. Ambrose. Ambrose will make his Bellator debut and is currently a +215 underdog.

He could be the best chance at an upset payout on the Bellator 62 card.

The last Lightweight tournament fight on the card will feature Rene Nazare against Thiago Michel.

Nazare is a wrecking machine with only one loss and will be a bargain as a -185 favorite over Michel. The upset payout on Michel currently looks too slim at +155.

And don’t forget the Heavyweight match up between Eric Pringle and Thiago Santos. Santos sits at -495, but that price is dropping slightly as the fight nears. The Pringle payout is a generous +360, but it’s tough to see him getting past submission skills Santos.
