A shot at the UFC Heavyweight title will be at stake on December 30 when Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem headline the UFC 141 fight card in Las Vegas.
MMA betting fans will also have Welterweight and Light Heavyweight moneyline options to choose from when “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone meets Nate Diaz and Alexander Gustafsson climbs into the cage against Vladimir Matyusenko.
The lines on Lesnar vs. Overeem have been moving around over the last couple weeks. Initially handicapped at -110, Lesnar has moved into the underdog position and currently sits at +125 at 5Dimes.
The payout on the former UFC Heavyweight champ climbed as high as +160, but at that price there was enough action on Lesnar to drop it back down to the current +125.
Action on Overeem has been steady and he currently sits at -145 at 5Dimes, nearly the same -140 at which he was initially handicapped. This fight is an interesting matchup of styles and should come down to whether Overeem can defend the takedown or not.
If he can, he should out-strike Lesnar for the KO win. If Lesnar gets Overeem on the ground his wrestling skills should be enough to ground-and-pound for the victory.
Nate Diaz looked impressive in his last fight as he displayed much-improved boxing skills to go with his solid jiu-jitsu game. It’s tough to imagine Diaz out-striking Cerrone, so the handicappers at 5Dimes have Diaz as a +220 underdog. Cerrone brings lethal Muay Thai kick-boxing and great takedown defense, enough to get handicapped as the 5Dimes -260 favorite.
If Diaz can keep Cerrone at bay with his reach he could find an opportunity to get the fight to the ground and try to win via submission.
Alexander Gustafsson has beaten every opponent he’s faced with the exception of top contender Phil Davis. The Swedish up-and-comer with be stepping into the Octagon against one of the toughest Light Heavyweights in the UFC but he's still been handicapped as a -330 favorite at 5Dimes.
If you think Matyushenko has one good fight left in him he will pay +270 at 5Dimes.
