UFC 159 features the long-awaited matchup between Chael Sonnen and UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones and the betting lines favor the champion in a big way.
The main card also features another important Light Heavyweight fight between Phil Davis and Vinicius Magalhaes as well as relevant fights in the Middle and Heavyweight divisions.
As expected Jones is a heavy favorite in the fifth defense of his title. No one is really sure how Sonnen gets a shot at the title, other than the fact that the people wanted to see it, and for that reason the price on Jones is a hefty -800 at Bovada. The Sonnen upset will pay +650 at BetOnline, but don’t get caught up in all the hype in this matchup - this is going to be a one-sided victory for Jones.
In a closer handicapped fight Alan Belcher will be looking to rebound from a poor outing in his last fight when he faces Middleweight contender Michael Bisping. Belcher is currently the +145 underdog at BetOnline, while action on Bisping comes with a -165 price at Bovada. Belcher has the talent to KO Bisping with one shot and is our upset pick on the UFC 159 fight card.
Phil Davis will look to continue his road to a title shot at UFC 159 with a win over the dangerous Vinicius Magalhaes. Davis will try to do what he does best and control his opponent with wrestling, but he will have to be careful of the submission skills of Magalhaes. As the Bovada -315 favorite Davis should have his way with his Brazilian opponent, who will pay +275 at BetOnline if he can manage the upset.
