UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks Odds

The UFC Welterweight championship will be up for grabs this weekend when Georges St-Pierre defends his title for the ninth straight time.

The champ has beaten all comers for the last six years and handicappers believe that he will continue to be the man at 170 pounds after the final bell rings on Saturday night.

The test St-Pierre will face this weekend shapes up on paper as the toughest he’s had to face in some time. Johny Hendricks brings big power and an elite wrestling pedigree that includes NCAA championships, which will make him dangerous wherever the fight takes place.

For that reason Hendricks is currently coming with a Bovada +200 payday, while the price on St-Pierre action currently costs -260.

Pick: St-Pierre by late stoppage

The co-main event of UFC 167 may be handicapped a little closer but looks to be offering the most value on the card. A great price of -185 is now available at Bovada on the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Rashad Evans. He should be able to dominate his opponent Chael Sonnen in a striking battle and will be very difficult to get to the ground where Sonnen will hold an edge in technique.

If Sonnen is able to put Evans on his back he will stand a good chance at winning either a decision or a submission victory. Despite all that the +150 upset option on Sonnen just seems a little thin against a former champ with the skill set of Evans.

Pick: Sonnen by decision

UFC 167 odds as of Thursday from SportBet:

Gian Villante -350
Cody Donovan 265

Will Campuzano 325
Sergio Pettis -450

Jason High -300
Anthony Lapsley 230

Edwin Figueroa 265
Erik Perez -350

Rick Story -220
Brian Ebersole 170

Ed Herman 170
Thales Leites -210

Evan Dunham -110
Donald Cerrone -120

Tim Elliott -155
Ali Bagautinov 125

Rashad Evans -190
Chael Sonnen 155

Rory MacDonald -365
Robbie Lawler +275

Josh Koscheck -110
Tyron Woodley -120

Johny Hendricks 210
Georges St-Pierre -270

UFC 167 will also feature a relevant Welterweight contender fight between Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler. Both fighters have good striking but the edge in this matchup goes to MacDonald and his grappling abilities. For that reason he is currently a +365 favorite at Bovada.

Lawler has the power to end this fight at any time and has looked very good since returning to the UFC. MacDonald will be a big test for him but it will take only one strike to turn the fight in his favor.

If he can keep his distance Lawler has a good chance to pay out on the +275 underdog option.

Pick: MacDonald by unanimous decision
